Upon graduation from the Syracuse University College of Law, Mr. Redd worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the Bronx County District Attorney's Office where he compiled a 95% conviction rate prosecuting felony manslaughter, conspiracy, assault, weapon possession, narcotic sale and robbery cases. Mr. Redd, while working as a prosecutor, was a speaker involved in the "Plan Against Drug Program" going to local schools to help educate students on the dangers of drugs. After meeting his public service commitment, Mr. Redd worked as an associate in a prominent medical malpractice defense firm handling the defense of physicians, hospitals and other health care providers, with an emphasis on obstetric malpractice cases. Mr. Redd joined Steven O'Connor in 1995 and became a Partner in the firm in 1998. Today, as a Senior Partner in the firm, Mr. Redd's responsibilities include the handling and trial of Labor Law/Construction site accidents, negligent security, fire/death, product liability, commercial trucking, construction defect, and general liability cases. Mr. Redd has successfully tried dozens of high exposure cases throughout the five boroughs of New York City, and Sullivan, Orange, Putnam, Dutchess, Nassau, Westchester and Suffolk counties.

Mr. Redd has represented an assortment of clients, third-party administrators and insurance companies, including Krasdale Foods Inc., S.L. Benfica Inc., Harleysville Insurance Co., ACE Insurance, Lexington Insurance, American International Group, Chartis Insurance, Farmers Insurance, General Star Insurance, CNA Insurance, Travelers Insurance and Zurich Insurance.

In his free time, Mr. Redd enjoys spending time with his wife of twenty seven years and their two teenage children, telemark skiing, scuba diving, mountain climbing, bicycling and coaching youth lacrosse.

Alvarez v. Park Crest East Condominiums: Successful defense and settlement of wrongful death case involving multiple level apartment building. Presenting liability questions included fire cause, origin and spread. Presenting damage questions included smoke inhalation, cause of death and conscious pain and suffering realized by decedent before expiration.

Eiseman v. Ballestri's: Defense verdict in Westchester County case involving allegations of building code violations, improper stair construction, hip fracture and hip replacement.

Frumusa v.P.J Weyer: Defense verdict in Suffolk County Labor Law ceiling collapse case involving allegations of head trauma and reflex sympathetic dystrophy.

Goldberg v. Tri County Ambulance: Defense verdict on injury causation in Bronx County case Involving rear end collision with herniated discs.

Gonnot v. Hatch: Defense verdict in a Sullivan County automobile "cross over" case with bi-lateral ankle fractures with open reduction and internal fixation surgery. Differing versions of who crossed over line, with opposing accident reconstruction experts.

Hendrickson v. Dynamic Medical Imaging: Defense verdict in a Queens County Labor Law case involving a crush/amputation foot injury when a five ton steel slab fell from fork lift after hoist strap failed.

Hichak v. Grand Plumbing: Orange County damages only case involving rear-end collision. Plaintiff was seeking $15 Million for a myriad of injuries and was awarded only $15,000 for the temporary whiplash experienced, and nothing more.

Jara v. Bart Electric: Defense verdict in Westchester County Labor Law 240(1)case involving electrician who fell from ladder when struck by improperly mounted light fixture sustaining fractured leg with open reduction and internal fixation injury.

Long v. A.R Mack Construction: Defense verdict in Dutchess County Labor Law §240(1) case involving "sole proximate cause" defense, where intoxicated union iron worker fell eighteen feet from a truckload of steel sustaining career ending hip and pelvic fractures.

Mazzei v. Scrodin: Defense verdict in Dutchess County Labor Law case involving cement truck that ran over construction worker causing leg injury with total knee replacement.

Nicoletti v. 42-24 235 St. LLC: Defense verdict. Partner Joseph Redd obtained a defense verdict before Justice Alan Weiss, Queens County in a case involving union electrician who sustained a trimalleolar fracture with open reduction and internal fixation surgery. Plaintiff claimed defendant permitted or created a dangerous snow/ice condition on the job, resulting in permanent incapacity and resulting inability to work in any capacity. Defense attacked plaintiff's allegations concerning location of fall by presenting testimony of snow removal contractor, co-workers, accident photos and certified weather records. Plaintiff's last demand: $450,000. Final offer: $150,000.

Schuyler v. Perry: Dutchess County damage's only case involving head on collision with car in which plaintiff was a passenger. Successful defense of case involving allegations of reflex sympathetic dystrophy. Injuries included fractured leg, hand, and surgical implantation of spinal stimulator. Pursuant to high/low agreement, upon jury verdict plaintiff received agreed upon low .

Scudari v. S.L. Benfica: Bronx County case involving allegations of improperly double parked truck resulting in bicycle accident and resulting tibial plateau fracture. Jury found defendant ten percent responsible, and plaintiff received five thousand dollars.

Slolely v. Hatch: Defense verdict in Rockland County wrongful death automobile case involving allegations of excessive speed and failure to give right of way. Defense included testimony from accident reconstruction expert and use of accompanying computer generated simulation/recreation of the accident.

Sow v. Precise Construction: Defense verdict on injury causation in Bronx County damage's only case involving truck accident, knee injury requiring multiple knee surgeries.

Sprung v. Amalgamated Apartment: Successful defense and settlement at mediation of New York County triple homicide/rape case involving allegations of negligent building security.
